Beginning this Sunday, we’ll join in worship with hundreds of millions of our siblings around the world, at a time when the world needs hope. Holy Week offers us the opportunity to be formed into the image of Christ, as we journey with him to the cross and through death to new life.
This Sunday is “Palm Sunday” and Pastor T. C. will preach on Jesus’s entrance into Jerusalem in a sermon entitled, “Protest, Parody, and Peace” with guest musical worship leader, John Kerns. Pastor Osheta will share a special Palm Sunday message for the children and there will be Prayers of the People and Holy Communion. Join with other misfits for worship!
On Thursday, Roots households are encouraged to commemorate “Maundy Thursday” (the night when Jesus shared Passover with his disciples and gave us the sacrament of Holy Communion). A devotional guide will be sent out to guide our worship practice.
Then, on Friday, Pastor T. C. will host a contemplative Good Friday service in the classroom at SPNN at 7:00 PM. “Good Friday” is a time when we allow ourselves to enter into the story of Jesus’s crucifixion and death. Through our fellowship with Jesus in his suffering, we grow in our empathy for all those whom the world crucifies.
