A Community of Misfits on a Mission

Rooted Families

Rooted and Established in Love

Rooted Families  is a family ministry for 2-year-olds through 5th graders and their parents/guardians. We love kids’ natural sense of curiosity, awe, and wonder! We engage those natural gifts with the Grow curriculum to combine home discipleship, inter-generational worship with the church and practical support for parents to raise a Jesus-loving generation that is rooted and established in Love. During each series we help kids to learn about God and grow their faith through fun activities and games, engaging Bible stories, and interesting conversation starters.

Rooted Families Online

Each week you’ll be provided with a Bible story video and corresponding At-Home Guide for each age group via “The Living room”.  We encourage families and trusted grownups  to go through the video and guide together so that kids can delve deeper in faith conversations with loved ones. Create a sacred rhythm at home!

Find the weekly videos and At-Home Guides on our private Vimeo page. email me Pastor Osheta for the password.

Rooted Families Online not what you’re looking for? In-person  (infants through Grade 5) and other family ministries programming are taking place at every other Sunday at our Prior Works location. (see COVID 19 update page to confirm if in-person gatherings are happening).

Roots values Inter-Generational Worship. Children are welcome to stay with their parents during the service. We also have age-specific ways of teaching and caring for kids. Down the hall from the Multi-purpose/Media room at Prior Works, we utilize Theater Mu’s rehearsal studio for kids ministry. We also have mentoring relationship opportunities, discipleship groups, and social events for our teens.
Playroma is a a sacred play group for Roots families and kids. Its name is a nerdy play on a Greek New Testament word: pleroma which is used to refer to the fullness of God that dwelt in Christ (e.g. Colossians 2:8).

At Roots our prayer is that our children grow into the amazing human beings God wants them to be. We also know as an intentionally inter-generational worshipping community that our children make our church complete. They bring energy and wisdom to us that inspires us to become the amazing human beings God wants us to be. Playroma is Roots’ bi-weekly children’s small group that meets Sunday mornings at Highland Park this fall.

Once a month Pastor Osheta invite you to come for a morning of play, fellowship, and faith. Pastor Osheta will prepare a short multi-aged kids message based on what they learned that month from the videos and activity for the gatherings. After a sacred circle time and craft feel free to stay and play or head home. This is a wonderful way to get to know other Roots’ families and receive support in helping your kiddos learn more about Jesus.
