A Community of Misfits on a Mission

MLK Day Worship Gathering at First Covenant

Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.
I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be.
This is the interrelated structure of reality.

— Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On Sunday, January 14th, we will join in worship with First Covenant Church, Hmong Baptist, La Viña (a Spanish-speaking Vineyard congregation), and several other congregations in remembrance and celebration of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Monday, the 15th, is a national holiday in recognition of Dr. King’s life and work in advocating for civil rights in the United States through nonviolence direct action. Driven by his faith in Christ and passion for justice for all people, Dr. King preached and practiced revolutionary love. He showed us what it means to love our neighbor as ourselves. We too want to join our voices, our hands and feet, with those who are disadvantaged in society, since this is essential to the work of justice and love to which each disciple and the church at large is called. Let us join together with our sisters and brothers from other congregations here in St. Paul to reflect and to be inspired to seek the shalom of our city.

The church building of First Covenant is located at 1280 Arcade street in St. Paul. The worship gathering is scheduled to begin at 9:30AM

Please note: There will be no worship gathering in the building of Central Luther School (775 Lexington Pkwy) Sunday, Jan 14th, while Roots joins First Covenant for worship.
