A Community of Misfits on a Mission

Worship Gathering, Adore Week 5

“When [Jesus] wanted fully to explain what his forthcoming death was all about, he didn’t give a theory. He didn’t even give them a set of scriptural texts. He gave them a meal.”

— N. T. Wright

The Lord’s Supper is central to Christian worship because it is more than a ritual, it is an encounter with the Risen Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. This meal is about oneness with God and with our sisters and brothers in the community of Jesus. This meal is about God’s radical hospitality and about God’s partnership with human beings to usher in the Kingdom of God.
